Navy Commissions New Destroyer in Show of Naval Strength

America's Naval Power Grows Stronger

The United States Navy today commissioned its newest Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer in a ceremony that underscored America's commitment to maintaining the most powerful naval force in the world.

The USS Patriot (DDG-130) is equipped with the latest Aegis combat system, advanced ballistic missile defense capabilities, and cutting-edge electronic warfare systems that make it one of the most capable surface combatants ever built.

Capabilities

The new destroyer features significant upgrades over earlier ships in the class:

  • Enhanced Aegis Baseline 10 combat system with integrated air and missile defense
  • 96 vertical launch system cells capable of firing a mix of offensive and defensive missiles
  • Advanced radar systems with increased detection range and tracking capability
  • Upgraded propulsion system with improved fuel efficiency for extended deployments

The commissioning brings the active destroyer fleet to over 70 ships, maintaining American naval superiority across the world's oceans and strategic waterways.
