New Charges Filed Against Illegal Immigrant Accused of Assaulting Girls at Virginia High School
An illegal immigrant already charged with multiple counts of assault at a Fairfax County, Virginia high school is now facing additional charges after more alleged victims stepped forward. The disturbing case is raising fresh concerns among parents and renewing questions about immigration enforcement and student safety in America’s classrooms.
Israel Flores Ortiz, 18, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who reportedly entered the United States in 2024, was initially charged with nine counts of assault and battery for allegedly groping female students at Fairfax High School. Now, authorities say four more victims have come forward, bringing the total number of charges against him to thirteen.
More Victims Come Forward
Fairfax County police first learned of the allegations on March 5, when school officials reported multiple assaults occurring on campus. An arrest warrant was issued, and Flores Ortiz turned himself in to authorities on March 7.
As the investigation continued, additional students reported similar allegations. On Wednesday, police confirmed that the suspect had been formally served with four new counts of assault and battery. He is currently being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
- Initial charges: 9 counts of assault and battery
- Additional charges: 4 new counts following further investigation
- Total charges: 13 counts of assault and battery
- Current status: Held without bond
Federal Authorities Seek Removal
The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that Flores Ortiz is in the United States illegally. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a formal detainer request with Fairfax County authorities, seeking custody of the suspect upon the conclusion of local proceedings.
“We are calling on Fairfax County to honor our detainer to ensure this violent criminal is removed from our country so he can never claim another victim again,” DHS said in a statement.
The case is already fueling frustration among many Americans who believe lax border policies are putting communities at risk. Critics argue that individuals who enter the country illegally and commit crimes should be swiftly deported to prevent further harm.
Parents Voice Outrage
Parents in Fairfax County say they are shaken and outraged by what allegedly occurred inside the walls of a public high school.
“It’s terrifying as a parent, because when I send my daughters to school, I think they're safe in the care of the school,” said parent Stacy Langton. “In this case, they absolutely were not safe. I don’t know what parent wouldn’t be completely distraught at the idea that their daughters could be getting sexually battered while they’re changing classes.”
For many families, the situation underscores a painful reality: parents expect schools to be safe havens focused on education — not places where students fear harassment or assault. The addition of more alleged victims only intensifies those concerns.
School District Response
Fairfax County Public Schools released a statement emphasizing that student and staff safety remains a top priority. While citing privacy laws that prevent discussion of specific details, the district stated that all safety complaints are thoroughly investigated and that law enforcement partners have acted swiftly.
Still, many in the community are asking hard questions about how such alleged misconduct could occur repeatedly before being stopped. They are also watching closely to ensure that ICE’s detainer request is honored and that the suspect is ultimately removed from the country.
As the legal process unfolds, this case stands as a sobering reminder of the real-world consequences of failed border control and the importance of enforcing America’s immigration laws. For parents in Fairfax County and across the nation, the priority is simple: protect our children, uphold the law, and ensure that those who break it face the full weight of justice.
