Illegal Immigrant Hunts Florida Teen With Knife, Faces Enhanced Felonies

Illegal Immigrant Accused of Hunting Down Florida Teen in Armed Park Attack

A peaceful Florida community was shaken this week after authorities say an illegal immigrant aggressively pursued and attacked an American teenager in a local park — all while armed with a knife.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old Vidal Jimenez was arrested on Tuesday, March 24, after deputies responded to a disturbing call from Bailey Place in Mulberry. What unfolded next is the kind of story that underscores why secure borders and strong law enforcement matter now more than ever.

Teen Targeted and Chased

Investigators say an 18-year-old victim was approached by two individuals who asked him whether he was selling marijuana. When the teen made it clear he was not involved in drugs, the situation quickly escalated. Authorities report that Jimenez became агitated and allegedly struck the young man.

Fearing for his safety, the teen ran. But the danger was far from over.

Deputies say Jimenez took off after him, initiating a terrifying chase through the park. The victim called his brother for help while attempting to hide. In the chaos, the two brothers were unable to find each other as the teen remained concealed, trying to avoid his pursuers.

Shockingly, authorities say the suspects located the teen again — and the chase resumed.

Armed and Dangerous

This time, investigators say, Jimenez was armed with a knife, while the second suspect carried a bottle. The victim once again ran for his life. Eventually, he was able to reconnect with his brother as the suspects continued their pursuit. The brothers immediately contacted law enforcement.

Deputies responded swiftly and reportedly spotted Jimenez leaving the Willow Oak Mobile Home Park. But instead of complying with law enforcement, authorities say he attempted to flee yet again.

According to investigators, Jimenez refused commands to stop, forcing a deputy to deploy a Taser to bring the situation under control. He was ultimately taken into custody following the brief pursuit.

Serious Charges — And Enhanced Penalties

Jimenez now faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Two counts of aggravated assault without intent to kill
  • Simple battery
  • Resisting an officer without violence

In a significant development, each of those charges has been enhanced by one degree because Jimenez is in the United States illegally and is a Mexican national.

“This suspect assaulted a young man, armed himself, and then tried to outrun deputies,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. “He’s also in this country illegally. That didn’t work out for him, and it won’t work out for anyone else who tries it.”

Second Suspect Still at Large

Authorities are continuing their search for the second individual allegedly involved in the attack. The investigation remains active as law enforcement works to ensure the community’s safety.

This disturbing incident serves as yet another reminder of the real-world consequences of failed border policies. An American teenager enjoying time at a local park should never have to run for his life from someone who should not have been in the country to begin with.

Thanks to decisive action by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a potentially even more tragic outcome was prevented. While one suspect is behind bars, the broader issue remains: protecting America’s communities requires enforcing the law — at the border and within our neighborhoods.

For the citizens of Polk County, the message from law enforcement is clear — criminals will be pursued, caught, and held accountable. And for those who break our laws while here illegally, the consequences will only be more severe.
